Somlói Galuska is Hungary's favorite dessert, often described as a trifle. It consists of layers of three types of sponge cake (plain, cocoa, and walnut), rum-soaked raisins, and walnuts, topped with chocolate sauce and whipped cream. It was created in the 1950s by the headwaiter of the famous Gundel restaurant. Today, it is found on almost every restaurant and cafe menu in Budapest.
